Let us use the Lords prayer as our guide for our praying:
Our Father who art in Heaven:
Let us first begin by remembering and thanking God that He is our good and loving Father, and not just “my” but “our’ Father, that we have been adopted (Eph.1:5) into His family, that He is not merely a judge or creator but our caring Father and we are not merely an organization or community but a family. Let us pray that this sense and awareness of being a part of His family will grow and influence our students, families and faculty and govern and guide our endeavors.
Hollowed be Thy name:
Let us praise Him for He is Holy, infinitely good, and dwells in unapproachable light.
Let us pray:
-that in all we do we will honor Him, that all in our decisions and plans for the school, all our curriculumchoices, all of our classes, all our daily teaching, all behavior, all interactions, the use of our finances, relationships with neighbors and the community, we will hallow (set apart for worship) His just and good governing in our lives, knowing that He rewards those who honor and seek Him.
Thy Kingdom come:
Let us pray:
-that the Lord would specifically, continuously, send His Word and Spirit to our school, to all the students, families and faculty, and so transform us into an outpost, castle, and fortress of His Kingdom for years to come.
-that for any students who have not yet become believers, that God would reveal this to them and will draw them to Himself here, and for those who are already believers that they will grow to commit themselves to becoming faithful disciples of the Lord.
-that the students would learn to see God’s hand in and behind all their subjects and begin to see the world from God perspective.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven:
Let us pray:
-that His good purposes for our school, students and families would beaccomplished
-that we would play the part in God’s plan that He has created and assembled usfor.
-that we would play a part in the preservation, growth and spread of His Gospel
-that individual students would seek and discover the path/mission He would havethem follow
-that the students would learn to approach their studies and responsibilities with energy andfaithfulness and learn to think of them as their service to the Lord
-that all students, families and staff would develop in grace and character
-that students would learn to be careful with their behavior, attitudes, conversation, and language
Give us this day our daily bread:
Let us first thank God that He knows all of our needs before we ask and thank Him for the multitude of ways he provides for us even when we are not aware of and don’t ask.
Let us pray:
-that God would provide for all the physical resources that we have need of in our building, classrooms and equipment
-that He would continue to provide us with all the academic resources to enable us to equip our students with a quality competitive education
-Let us thank Him for and pray that He continue to provide us with quality staff and teachers
-for the support and needs of the teachers and staff
-for personnel assistance and volunteers with programs and functions of all types
-that He would bring and/or that we would find the students and families that He would have come to Fideles and that our numbers would increase so that we might be enabled to put on all the classes and programs that are desired and needed
-for financial strength and stability
-for His wisdom in all our decisions
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors:
Let us first notice that the Lord enjoins us to pray for the forgiveness of “our” debts, not just “my” debts. We are instructed to pray for the forgiveness of ourselves and one another. Also, we are to remember that we have been forgiven freely of a great debt, without cost to us, and out of that sense of thankfulness and gratitude we should be moved to forgive the small debts others owe us.
Let us pray:
-for the ongoing forgiveness and cleansing of the sins of all of our students, families, and staff
-that the willing attitude to forgive sins would permeate our school
-that disagreements that arise would be handled Biblically
-for grace and wisdom for Shepherding Committee members
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
Let us first thank God for all the ways He protects us as a Father, most of which we are unaware.
Let us pray:
-for all of our students, parents and staff that the Lord would ever intercede todeliver us from temptations without and within
-for safety and protection from injury and harm
-for deliverance from any moral and/or spiritual evils
-that our students would grow in discernment and wisdom and learn to recognize wisdom from foolishness
-that God would grant us all the Grace to consistently choose wisdom over foolishness
For Thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen:
Let us close by admiting our insufficiencies to bring about all the above that we have prayed for, and confess and acknowledge that it is the Lords place, His ability and His honor to provide for us as we pray for these things in Faith.
